How to apply voter card online at home

The unique voter ID card is issued to all people who are eligible to cast votes. Once a person successfully applies for a voter ID, he/she gets listed in the electoral rolls.

 

 

Who  can apply for voter ID:

All eligible citizens of India who have attained the age of 18 years can apply for a Voter ID card. These applicants are categorised into three groups:

1. General resident electors
2. Service Electors
3. Overseas / NRI Electors How to Apply for Voter ID card for different categories

a) For General Elector: Voter ID Card Online for Indian Residents.

All the citizens of India residing within the country are considered as General Electors. A person should be at least 18 years old on the qualifying date of January 1st of that particular year.

Mandates for applying Voter ID for General Electors

Scanned : – photograph, Age Proof (birth certificate, marksheet of Class X, PAN card etc.)
Address Proof :- Aadhar card, Driving Licence, Passport, Gun licence, Ration card, Bank Account etc.

How to apply voter card online at home

 

Steps to apply for online card:-

Visit the official website of National Voter’s Service Portal (http://www.nvsp.in/)

Click on Apply online for new voter.
Form 6 will appear in front of you, which you need to fill and submit.
You can choose your preferred language from a variety of Indian languages.
Post the submission procedure your form will appear on the Notice Board of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) inviting objections. If anyone wishes to make any objection, they will have a time-period of a week.
After this period, an order will be given the electoral roll.

 

In case any objections are made by someone, the ERO or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) will hear the applicant and the objector’s cases.

In both the cases you will receive notice of if your name has been included in the Electoral List or not by post and SMS on the number you provide.

(b) For General Elector: Voter ID card Offline for Indian Residents

  • Get an application form from the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your own constituency, or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station. This form is free of cost.

Or download the form from the website of the Election Commission.

    • Fill and submit the Form 6 along with the needed documents to the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station.

 

  • You can also send the form by post, at the address of the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency. The correct postal address is available on the Election Commission website of the respective union territory or state.

Important documents that you will need are:

  • A recent passport sized colored photo, which is affixed on the form in the specified space.
  • Copy of proof of age/identity
  • Copy of proof of residence

Post the submission procedure, the booth level officer might visit your residence to verify the adress address.

Your form will appear on the notice board of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) inviting objections. If anyone wishes to make any objection, they will have a time-period of a week.
